Paying for an Event Ticket or a Project Levy
How to register and pay for a paid event, what 'Awaiting payment' means, and how to pay what you owe on a project, all from the page itself.
Some events charge for a ticket, and some projects ask members for a levy. You pay both from the event or project page itself, with the same payment screen you use for your dues.
Registering for a paid event
Open the event
Go to Events and open the event. A paid event shows its price, for example '₦10,000.00 per ticket'. If there is an early-bird price, the page says until when it applies and what the price is afterwards.
Click 'Register and pay'
Your seat is held straight away and the payment screen opens. The button shows the amount you will pay.
Pay
Choose how to pay from the methods your association has set up (online by card, or bank transfer) and follow the steps, exactly as you would for dues.
See your seat confirmed
Once the payment is received, the page changes from 'Awaiting payment' to 'I'm Going'.
If you don't pay straight away
You can close the payment screen and come back. Your seat stays held and the event page shows 'Awaiting payment' with a 'Your ticket' card and a Pay button. An unpaid ticket does not make you overdue and does not affect your standing in the association, but your registration is only confirmed once it is paid. The association can release a seat that stays unpaid.
If you pay by bank transfer, your registration stays 'Awaiting payment' until the association has checked and approved your payment. You will see it change to 'I'm Going' when they do.
Cancelling your seat
- Before you have paid: click Cancel Seat on the event page. The unpaid ticket charge is removed with it.
- While a payment is still being checked: you cannot cancel until it has been confirmed or turned down. Contact the association if you need it sorted out sooner.
- After you have paid: the page no longer offers Cancel Seat, because the money has already been taken. Contact the association; if a refund is appropriate they will arrange it.
Paying what you owe on a project
If your association has charged you a levy for a project, the project page shows a 'You owe on this project' card with what is left to pay and a Pay button. Depending on how the levy is set up you may be able to pay part of it and the rest later; the payment screen tells you. When nothing is owed, the card is not shown.
Voluntary giving works as before: the Contribute box on an active project lets you give any amount you choose.
