Your Credit on Account
What it means when your association holds credit for you, how to see it, use it on your own charges, or offer some as a donation.
If you ever pay more than you owe and choose to keep the extra, your association holds it for you as credit on your account. It is your money. It is never used automatically. Only you, or an administrator of your association on your behalf (usually because you asked), can use it on your charges, and you are emailed each time.
Where to find it
When you have credit, Credit on Account appears in the left sidebar under Finances, and a short notice appears at the top of Financial Obligations. The page shows three figures: Credit held for you, Set aside (an offer or refund waiting for a decision) and Available to use. Below them you can see everything that has happened to your credit, with dates and amounts.
Using your credit on your own charges
Choose what to settle
Tick the charges you want to settle, or tick none to settle your oldest charges first.
Choose how much
The amount fills in for you. You can change it, up to what is available and up to what the chosen charges owe. Use the most I can fills in the most your credit can settle. A charge that must be paid in full is only settled when your credit covers all of it.
Confirm
Press Use my credit and confirm. The charges are settled straight away and you are emailed. You cannot undo this yourself; if it was a mistake, ask your association.
Donating some of your credit
You can offer some of your credit to the association as a donation. Choose Donate some of my credit and enter an amount. It is only an offer: the amount is set aside, an administrator has to approve it, and you can withdraw it from the Waiting for a decision list until then. When it is approved it becomes a donation and you are thanked by email.
Getting your credit back
Ask your association. Refunds are paid by them outside the portal: they prepare it, a second person approves it, and you see it under Waiting for a decision until it is done. You will be emailed when it is paid.
